Elliott Bath | Project Strategy
Elliott Bath is a data-driven, performance oriented marketing leader and entrepreneur. For over 12 years, he's worked with startups, SaaS products, advertising agencies, and entrepreneurs to create powerful marketing campaigns that generate sales and a positive ROI.
Tell us about what you do at Right Side Up.
I work on the project strategy team. My job is to dive into a business and get an understanding of the challenges they're facing in their marketing program. From there, I partner them with A-level marketers that match the specific skill sets needed to get the job done. I have a unique lens because I've been a marketer for over 12 years but also did moonlighting in the RSU network for about a year before joining RSU full time two months ago.
Where is home these days? What is your work environment like?
I split time between Durango and Denver, CO. I love working from my patio on a nice day or at my standing desk. At some point, I'm going to take advantage of the RSU co-working stipend to force myself out of the house.
What were you doing before Right Side Up?
I started my marketing career 12 years ago by starting my own marketing business (I was working at restaurants to make money while starting out) and I was able to scale that up successfully over five years. I did a lot of random stuff for my clients and have tons of funny stories. From there, I started a mobile app company called IndTech.io. We built marketing apps for hospitality businesses such as bars, restaurants, and breweries. Essentially, users could subscribe to the app for $5 a month and then access free drinks and food at hundreds of establishments across several cities. I have personally been to over 800 establishments and signed up 400 of them to be on the platform. After that, I went into the agency world for a while and then migrated to a real estate startup called Trelora, which focused on flat-fee real estate transactions. And in my most recent role before RSU, I was in the cannabis space and doing growth marketing for a highly regulate SaaS product.
What excites you about growth marketing?
I love how much involvement growth marketers have in the businesses they work with. They have to understand everything holistically, but also on a granular level by working cross departmentally with product, sales, devs, etc. It requires a curious person with an experiment first mindset, and I love that. There are so many tools to solve problems that did not exist 12 years ago when I first started. For example, marketing tech stacks like Zapier, AutoPilot, Marketo, Hubspot, Customer.io, attribution tools, etc.—so much of that didn't exist or was very early, and these tools unlock so much potential. I'm excited about where attribution has gone and how easy it is to prove a positive ROI from various channels.
What has the structure/flexibility of Right Side Up’s model allowed you to do outside of work?
I love the remote work environment and the trust amongst all of my peers. Everyone is here to support each other and ensure each other's success and ultimately the success of RSU. The model allows me to live in multiple places and travel more.
And now, let’s get to the fun stuff…
- I love mountain biking, hiking, camping, paddle boarding, all the Colorado things!
- Andrew Huberman's podcast has been one of my favorites lately.
- I enjoy making Gumbo for people.
- My first concert was ZZ Top and Lynrd Skynrd.
- Costa Rica is a favorite travel destination for me. It's so ecologically diverse and the people are incredibly nice.
- A fun fact about myself that people wouldn’t expect is that I can ride a unicycle.
