Lindsay King | Project Strategy
Lindsay King is a marketing strategist with a background leading paid acquisition for companies like SmileDirectClub, Ancient Nutrition, and Tend. She is part of the project strategy team at Right Side Up (RSU).
Tell us about what you do at Right Side Up.
I manage the project strategy process for the offline unit at RSU. In my role, I chat with potential clients about different offline channels to explore and what an ideal test might look like for their business needs. I also walk them through budget options and ideal channel mixes.
I have a degree in biology and focused my studies in behavioral neuroscience, which actually applies to marketing much more than most people expect. It’s really helpful to know how to develop well-controlled tests and understand the drivers for human economic decision making.
What were you doing before Right Side Up?
I started my career in digital marketing at an agency in 2011. Since then, I’ve led paid acquisition in-house at SmileDirectClub and Ancient Nutrition with a heavy focus on social channels.
What excites you about growth marketing?
I love that the industry is constantly evolving. It keeps you on your toes and forces you to stay up to date on what’s new with algorithm changes, creative best practices, and new tools and platforms. As growth marketing continues to evolve, I expect endorsement channels like influencer and podcast to become a more important part of most brands’ media mixes.
What has Right Side Up’s flexible structure allowed you to do outside of work?
I lived in an RV traveling full-time for three years while working for RSU. During that time I covered more than 50,000 miles across 30 states, along with extended trips to Canada and Mexico. I recently “settled down” and bought a house in Salt Lake City, but I have a small travel trailer. This enables me to still travel part time on trips that last up to two months at a time—as long as I have cell data reception, I can work from anywhere!
I chose to put down roots in Utah because of all its outdoor recreation opportunities. Depending on the season, you can find me rock climbing, hiking, skiing, or canyoneering.
And now, let’s get to the fun stuff…
- My favorite quote is “She took the leap and built her wings on the way down,” because you don’t know what you’re capable of if you don’t rip off your safety net every now and then.
