The Right Side Up Talent Spotlight series profiles some of our full-time employees and growth marketing consultants. We get the chance to learn about their incredible professional experiences, expert marketing insights, and how they balance work and life.
Meet Matt Wynne, Right Side Up’s newest Principal Consultant. While brand new to our internal team, Matt has been a long-time consultant in our talent collective and has worked with many Right Side Up clients over the years.
Matt brings over 15 years of deep growth marketing expertise to the team, which you can read about in his Q&A below.
What’s your title and what will your role be at RSU? When did you officially start?
Principal Consultant. I started November 4, 2024.
Tell us about your professional background and area(s) of expertise. Any achievements you’re proud of or notable brands you’ve worked with?
I have been in growth marketing for 15+ years, including 6.5 years at Amazon where I was the first growth marketer for AWS. I led Acquisition and Marketing Ops for Amazon Business and Alexa. I was also the first performance marketer at Smartsheet and was Sr. Director of Growth Marketing at Wrike.
Where is home these days? What is your work environment like?
I live in Pittsburgh, PA with my wife Katie, two kids (10 and 6), and our dog, Scarlett.
What excites you about growth marketing? Has your work changed since you first started? What do you see for the future of growth marketing?
I’ve been around since the early days of growth marketing and while the tech, tools, and acronyms change, the thing I love about what we do is that, if we provide great customer experiences, we know the impact of our work for our customer, business and stakeholders immediately. Our ability to engage with and delight customers at scale is what keeps me around!
What excites you about the work Right Side Up is doing?
I’ve been working with RSU for 5 years now in multiple engagements, so I’m a big believer in the way RSU is helping organizations of all scales solve problems. As an in-house marketing leader for many years, one thing I know is that agility will always win out. RSU provides agility for not only internal teams but for consultants, too.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A U.S. Senator.
What do you like to do for fun?
I am an Ohio State Buckeye alum and super fan. I find myself driving over to Columbus with my kids on football Saturdays in the fall. The rest of the year, we are a sports family: tennis, football, basketball, softball/baseball.
What’s a TV show, podcast, book, video game, recipe, etc. that you’re loving right now?
Because I am in front of a screen for work most of the day, I don’t do a lot of screen activities outside of work (other than watching sports). I really love cooking and am the primary cook at home. Now that it's getting colder, I’m really looking forward to stews and all sorts of braised meat recipes for the winter!
Do you have a favorite quote?
“The whole world is a narrow bridge, but the essence is not to be afraid.”
What was your first concert?
Blink 182.
What’s your favorite place you’ve traveled to? Why?
I have been very fortunate to travel a lot in my life and while not the most remote or exotic place on the list, my favorite place to travel is to the lake every summer with my kids.
What’s a fun fact about yourself that people wouldn’t expect?
I played one season of D1 tennis.
