She stands out as among the most dynamic growth marketing consultants in Right Side Up’s talent network, with over a decade of experience working with fast-growing brands across streaming, health and wellness, and social media. Jennifer launched JL Premier Consulting in 2022, focusing on direct-to-consumer (DTC) and business-to-business (B2B) brands and establishing profitable, revenue-growing affiliate programs.

As the winner of a HoneyBook Breakthrough Grant, Jennifer plans to reinvest in JL Premier Consulting and take on more clients—with an expansion into other services beyond affiliate marketing.

Let’s get to know Jennifer and what motivates her as a growth marketing consultant.

Q&A with Jennifer Lee

Jennifer joins us for this Talent Spotlight, a series profiling Right Side Up employees and growth marketing consultants within our talent network. It’s an opportunity to chat with experts and share who they are, their marketing insights gathered over the years, and how they balance work and life.

Here’s our conversation with Jennifer—in which she discusses her experience as a growth marketing consultant and how she spends her time outside of work.

Where is home these days? What is your work environment like?

I’m based in Jersey City, New Jersey. I enjoy working remotely and spend most of my time in my home office.

I absolutely love my building because there are coworking spaces in several areas. Plus, it’s so scenic! I can see the Statue of Liberty from the rooftop, which is pretty amazing.

Even though I have great options, I prefer working from home because I need my two screens to stay productive.

Tell us about your professional background and area(s) of expertise. Any notable brands you’ve worked with?

I've spent over a decade working in growth and affiliate marketing, working on some incredible brands.

One of my most memorable experiences was with Disney Streaming, where I worked on launching affiliate partnerships in new markets and scaling the global program. It was an exciting role during the peak of the global pandemic and, the company’s focus was on the streaming sector as people weren’t going to the park, cruises, and shows as much.

I’ve also worked with innovative brands like Ro, where we navigated the complex health sector. I’m rooting for them and am excited to see them expanding and treating new health conditions. Their ads are all over Jersey City’s PATH stations and trains now!

Foria is also an amazing company to work with because they’re innovating intimate wellness. Their dedication to using organic, plant-based ingredients shows a real commitment to quality and transparency, and it’s amazing to be part of a brand that has incredible reviews to back it up.

Through Right Side Up, I've had the opportunity to work across diverse industries like fitness, matchmaking, and psychics!

What are some of your favorite projects or achievements you’re proud of?

One project I’m particularly proud of involved helping a matchmaking client through Right Side Up establish one of the first affiliate programs in their industry. With a high average order value and a novel approach, it was rewarding to see how partners responded and how the program grew.

I would say that success was driven by the company’s marketing lead being eager to explore new ideas and strategies, which allowed us to adapt and optimize. Each brand presents unique challenges, and I enjoy the process of finding solutions that drive results.

You recently won a HoneyBook Breakthrough Grant. Tell us about the work you’ve put into growing the business and earning this honor.

Winning the HoneyBook Breakthrough Grant is a huge achievement for me. I almost didn’t apply because I didn’t think I stood a chance, but to my surprise, I was one of only 10 people chosen out of thousands of applicants. It’s such an incredible honor!

Growing my business has been a journey of long hours, constant learning, and a lot of growth as a business owner. Along the way, I’ve learned who’s really there to support me, especially during tough times. My mom was always my biggest supporter, and her belief in me has given me the strength to push through even the hardest moments. It’s been eye-opening to see who’s genuinely happy to see you succeed.

The grant symbolizes a lot for me and I’m incredibly grateful to the HoneyBook team for choosing my business and affirming that my hard work and commitment to staying the course, even when things got tough, was worth it.

How do you plan on using HoneyBook’s Breakthrough Grant for your business?

I plan on using HoneyBook’s Breakthrough Grant to invest in several key areas of my business. First, I’ll be focusing on rebranding—including a new logo and website—to elevate my company’s market presence and attract higher-profile clients. I'll also be investing in specialized tools for customized reporting and public relations (PR) resources, which will enhance the services I offer my clients.

With HoneyBook’s tools, I’ll be able to streamline many of the administrative processes that often take up valuable time as a business owner. Additionally, I hope to expand my team and scope beyond affiliate into influencer, PR, and more. These steps will allow my business to scale while maintaining high-quality, personalized service.

What excites you about growth marketing? Has your work changed since you first started? What do you see for the future of growth marketing?

There’s always something new to test, new strategies to try, and I love the challenge of finding what truly moves the needle for a brand. Since I started, the landscape has changed a lot—particularly with the rise of new platforms and data-driven decision-making. It's no longer just about performance; it's about understanding the bigger picture and how everything connects.

Looking forward, I see growth marketing becoming even more integrated with brand storytelling and product innovation. The future is going to be all about balancing personalization at scale with authenticity.

How long have you been a growth marketing consultant in Right Side Up’s talent community? What motivated you to join?

I’ve been part of Right Side Up’s talent community for a few years now, and the opportunity came at a really crucial time in my life. I’d been considering consulting for a while, but when a lot of unexpected changes hit all at once, it became clear that flexibility was what I needed.

Right Side Up and Amy Scanlon were incredibly supportive during that period, giving me the chance to work on a schedule that fit my situation. That’s something I’ll always appreciate. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with some really interesting brands through Right Side Up, which has been a great experience.

What has the structure and flexibility of being a growth marketing consultant allowed you to do both professionally and outside of work?

There were definitely moments when I wasn’t sure what direction to take. I even considered going back to a corporate role for stability. But I realized those roles aren’t necessarily more secure, and the upside of being my own boss is that while the challenges are mine to solve, I have the freedom to do it my way.

The flexibility of consulting has let me find a better balance between work and personal life. I’ve been able to be there for my family when they needed me while still growing professionally by working with exciting brands. That sense of control and balance is something I don’t want to give up.

What do you like to do for fun in your geographic area?

I’ve really gotten into pickleball and Zumba lately. Pickleball is such a fun way to stay active, and it’s also a great social outlet. Zumba lets me burn off energy while dancing, which is always a blast. Both activities help me stay fit, but what I love most is the social aspect—they allow me to connect with people and have fun while being active.

What TV show, podcast, book, video game, recipe, or other interest are you loving right now?

I’m currently reading Love for Imperfect Things: How to Accept Yourself in a World Striving for Perfection. It’s about learning to love oneself by Haemin Sunim, an influential monk. It’s been my go-to book before bed. I really enjoy the collection of quotes in it—they remind me that I’m not alone in my struggles and help me practice self-compassion. It’s a nice, calming way to end the day, and it helps me reflect a bit before I go to sleep.
