Q&A with Megan Fenner

Megan, who started at Right Side Up in February 2024, joins us for this Talent Spotlight, a series profiling Right Side Up employees and growth marketing consultants within our talent network. It’s an opportunity to chat with experts and share who they are, their marketing insights gathered over the years, and how they balance work and life.

Here’s our conversation with Megan—in which she discusses her role at Right Side Up and how she spends her time outside of work.

Where is home these days? What is your work environment like?

Home is sunny San Diego, California! My work environment changes daily depending on the weather and my mood. Sometimes I’m at the kitchen island, sometimes I’m on the balcony enjoying the fresh air, and other times I’m in my home office in front of a 32-inch monitor staring at too many spreadsheets, Figma designs, and browser windows.

What’s your title, how would you describe your current role at Right Side Up, and how long have you been with us?

I joined Right Side Up as the Head of Product about six months ago and have been loving every minute!

Currently, I lead the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Right Side Up’s client and talent experience to continue effectively connecting innovative companies with top-notch marketers.

Tell me about your professional background and area(s) of expertise. Any achievements you’re proud of or notable brands you’ve worked with?

I’ve spent my entire career in tech leading and scaling customer success, operations and product functions, primarily focusing on marketplaces, productivity, and personal connections in industries such as real estate, healthcare, travel, and fashion.

My sweet spot has always been the ‘0 to 1’ stage, and I’m so excited about the talent experience we’re preparing to launch for Right Side Up.

What has the structure and flexibility of Right Side Up’s model allowed you to do outside of work?

Because of this work-from-anywhere-at-any-time model, I maintain strong relationships with my friends and family without compromising my performance at work. I’ve comfortably traveled to see friends in Seattle, Portland, Cleveland, and New York without taking time off.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I always had a laundry list of dream jobs: a plastic surgeon, fashion designer, journalist, real estate mogul, or teacher. It depended on the time of year and the influences I was exposed to at the time, and I’m still adding to the list!

What do you like to do for fun in your geographic area?

Southern California has stolen my heart forever, and I love how easy it is to be active. I’m currently training to run my first full marathon in January. I frequently go on early morning coffee walks by the ocean with friends and make it a point to go to the beach at least once a month. It feels like a staycation all the time!

What TV show, podcast, book, video game, recipe, or other interest are you loving right now?

I’m always five years behind on the latest shows, so I’ve recently started watching This Is Us on Netflix. I’m so invested and love how naturally the writers folded many relatable life challenges into the show.

Do you have a favorite quote?

It’s not my favorite quote, but I frequently say with a lighthearted laugh, “This too shall pass.”

When work or life is particularly frustrating or challenging, I remind myself that it’s only temporary—I should remain calm and not so serious.

What was your first concert?

Taylor Swift's Fearless Tour on October 3, 2008! It’s hard to believe I’ve been a proud Swiftie for just shy of 20 years since her debut album released in 2006.
